Your determination to confront the Islamic Republic, expel its IRGC terror agents, and hold the regime accountable sends a powerful message: Canada stands with the people of Iran, not their oppressors.

An honour for Deputy Leader @MelissaLantsman and I to welcome Crown Prince @PahlaviReza to Canada to rally for freedom and against terrorism. We discussed the need to kick IRGC terror agents out of Canada and sanction the illegitimate terror regime in Tehran, which has murdered dozens of Canadian citizens and thousands of its own people. Thank you, Crown Prince, for fighting for the freedom of your people.

Prince Reza Pahlavi, leader of the Iranian Democratic opposition, held a virtual meeting with Australian Opposition Leader Angus Taylor, Shadow Foreign Minister Ted O’Brien, and several Senators to discuss support for the Iranian people, the protection of Iranian-Australians, and preparations for a future democratic Iran. Following the meeting, Prince Reza Pahlavi issued the following statement:
 "I was pleased today to meet virtually with Coalition leaders Angus Taylor and Ted O’Brien and a number of Senators, for a constructive discussion about the situation in Iran, the aspirations of the Iranian people, and the future relationship between a free Iran and Australia.     I am grateful to Mr. Taylor, Mr .O’Brien and their Coalition colleagues for their engagement and for their support for the Iranian people and Australia’s vibrant Iranian community.  Our discussion focused on the horrific ongoing human rights abuses including the January massacres of over 40,000 protestors, the ongoing executions of young people, the importance of protecting Iranian-Australians from intimidation and foreign interference, and the role Australia can play in supporting the Iranian people’s ongoing fight for liberation and democracy.   We also discussed the opportunities that could come with a free and democratic Iran. Australia has world-leading expertise in mining, energy, agriculture, education and technology. A free and prosperous Iran could become an important economic and strategic partner for Australia. I briefed Coalition members on the Iran Prosperity Project and our work to prepare now for Iran’s economic recovery and reconstruction.  We agreed the freedom of the Iranian people should transcend party politics. I would therefore welcome the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Foreign Minister Penny Wong and other members of the Australian Government, as well as continuing my dialogue with the Coalition.  I also look forward to visiting Australia in person, to meet political leaders from across the spectrum and, importantly, to meet members of the Iranian-Australian community.  Australia has an opportunity to stand with the Iranian people today while beginning to build a relationship with the free, democratic and prosperous Iran of tomorrow. I am thankful that the Coalition took the first steps to do that, today."
