When a Flydubai flight carrying Israeli passengers was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after a terrifying cockpit attack, nobody knew how the Israelis would be treated once they entered the terminal. The answer came from the passengers themselves. They said the Saudis treated them very well. They were given assistance, looked after while arrangements were made, and ultimately were able to continue their journey home. One Israeli passenger even summed it up with a smile: “In Saudi Arabia we trust!” No diplomatic relations. No easy circumstances. He said the additional pilots were assigned to the flight. During the emergency, he said, both initially froze. “I had to shake them to get them to move to the front and take control of the plane, because it was diving.” According to his account, Israeli passengers pulled the attacker out of the cockpit and got the other pilots inside. One took control of the aircraft; the other took longer to recover. The passenger’s account, including the crew assignments, has not been independently verified.
