Read this one twice.
October 12th. The day a man who had been rejected for years finally made landfall, after crossing an ocean nobody had charted, with a crew that wanted to turn back and maps that were wrong about the distance.
He didn't win by being right about the numbers. His numbers were wrong. He won because he refused to turn the ship around.
And the same date later became the feast of the Virgin of the Pillar. The pillar. Steadfastness. Holding the line through hardship, and staying with your people while they go through it.
A date about perseverance, twice over, chosen centuries apart.
XRPN is expected to start trading on October 12th.
None of that is proof of anything. That's the point.
But a community that spent years being told it was wrong, holding a course through delistings, obituaries and a lawsuit filed two days before Christmas, arriving on the feast day of the pillar is the kind of thing you write down.
And the Fuzzy in the crow's nest with the telescope is perfect, because that's exactly what this community has been. Not the ones with the maps. The ones who kept watch while everyone else slept, and shouted when they saw land.
Stay fuzzy. Hold the course.
PERSEVERANCE is the pillar of October 12th!
Christopher Columbus's "perseverance" was the driving force that made the landing on the American continent possible on October 12, 1492.
After years of rejection, the Catholic Monarchs promised him titles and riches if he found land by sailing west. He set sail from Palos on August 3, 1492, with the *Santa Marรญa*, the *Pinta*, and the *Niรฑa*. From September 6th onwards, he crossed an unknown ocean, facing meager food and water supplies, erroneous distance calculations, and a crew on the verge of mutiny. He negotiated for a few more days, held his course, and during the night of October 11โ12, they sighted land. On October 12th, he landed on Guanahanรญโwhich he named San Salvadorโand claimed the agreed-upon reward.
Later, October 12th was chosen as the feast day of the Virgin of the Pillar (*Virgen del Pilar*). Her figure represents steadfastness of faith, perseverance in one's mission, and the maternal comfort of one who accompanies her children through every hardship.
