Literally had 4 people DM me the same Jacob Coxon interview video asking my opinion on AI "prepping". Like anything, everyone has an opinion, this is just mine...and in my opinion, his is a poor take.
I've spent years mulling this topic over. And I actually started preparing for a global pandemic in 2017. So thankfully, the Plandemic didn't really affect my immediate family.
So there's a wide range of possibilities, but ultimately, I treat "prepping" like an insurance policy. Just like you get house insurance and HOPE your house doesn't burn down, and it most of the time never catches fire. But on the slim chance it does, you hope you do have insurance.
If AI wants to kill us all, they will most likely be totally indifferent to us. Like humans and ant colonies. If humans want to build a road, it's going to happen and it's unfortunate the ants were in the way.
Also IF it does happen, it won't be robots/Terminator style, it will be an airborne contagion of some sort. Far faster, more efficient, minimal infrastructure damage, minimal resistance from us and there are already many known artificial pathogens that could do the job.
Do I think this will happen? Not really. Don't like giving my P-Doom percentage because it's a wide spectrum and in those extreme scenarios, there's literally nothing you can do. So there's no point worrying about it.
What I am 99% confident will happen is a "Cyber Covid". A global cyber attack that shuts down the internet for 1-7 days which then has a whole array of terrible side effects like global logistics, water, power supplies going offline. It will make 2020 look like a sunny autumn afternoon.
So THIS is what you can insulate your family from and is the scenario that I "prep" for. Not going to go in depth of what I do, but the goal is to try your hardest to become:
- Energy independent. (So you have lights, heat and refrigeration).
- Food and water independent. (12 months+ of supplies).
- Transaction/monetary independent (Banks go down? What can you trade? Do you have a bricks n mortar biz that you can use to generate relevant trade).
- 12 months of disaster luxuries (Water, toilet roll, wine, chocolate, liquors, detergent, wind up radios, Starlink, portable solar etc etc etc. The list is long!)
- Personal transport sovereignty. Roads, ports and airports are the first to close. This is why I want to own a helicopter and have it stored in the garden. Not there yet. All my money is in
$TAO and I refuse to sell! Need the transport in case I need to get to my remote bolthole. But on a lower scale, having an electric pickup truck would be handy. You can't store diesel more than 12 months...
- A way to defend yourself.
I could go on. But think of your life like a computer game. Can you "save level" so that if the shit hits the fan, your normal house life is unfazed/untouched? For 99.9999% of people, the answer is a big no. I'm not there yet, but I strive for it.
As I said, it's just insurance. A save-level for peace of mind which I hope I never need. But just like with aviation, there's a saying "Better to be on the ground wishing you were flying, rather than flying and wishing you were on the ground!" For me, I just don't want to be in a situation where I've forecasted all of this but still in the do-do with everyone else if I am actually correct!
Probably spent 10 years mentally mapping out prepping stuff. Wouldn't say I'm an expert, but you can learn a lot from YouTube!
