BREAKING: LOW IQ! Trump publicly embarrasses himself by bragging that he convinced Xi Jinping to start calling artificial intelligence “super intelligence” instead — even though the Chinese speak Chinese. Just when you thought that he couldn’t get any stupider… “Very productive meeting with President Xi for both the U.S.A. and China,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Tremendous things will be happening. Like almost everyone else, he seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE. That would be ‘SUPER!’ Everyone last night agreed, also. President DJT” The obvious problem with this supposedly massive win is that the Chinese don’t call AI “artificial intelligence” because “artificial” and “intelligence” are English words and they speak Mandarin in Beijing. The phrase that the Chinese use for AI, in its romanized form, is “ren gong zhi neng.” And while that roughly translates to “artificial intelligence,” the language barrier matters. What will almost certainly happen here is that China will simply continue using its current phrasing. Trump’s fixation on renaming AI isn’t difficult to untangle. He knows that AI data centers have become electorally radioactive with voters, but he also knows that the AI bubble is the only thing propping up the stock market. In his confused, deteriorating mind, he seems to have decided that Americans simply dislike the branding because “artificial” has a negative connotation. In reality, people hate data centers because they’re noisy, consume massive amounts of electricity and water, and provide very few local jobs while funneling more and more profits to the neo-fascist tech lords in Silicon Valley. This is so quintessentially Trump: ignore the root causes of an issue and paper over people’s material concerns with cheap, superficial tweaks. Ultimately, this Truth Social post serves to underline the monumental failures of the Trump presidency vis-à-vis China. Rather than hammering out some kind of deal on trade, Taiwan, nuclear weapons, or AI regulation, Trump wastes Xi’s visit rambling about “super intelligence,” which is ironically the term that best describes the Chinese President when he’s standing in comparison to our demented leader.
