Good morning and TGIF. ☕ Well, it’s been quite the week. Let’s recap. This week we learned the future of USMCA is up in the air. Minor detail: only about 2.5–3 million Canadian jobs are tied to trade with our North American partners. No pressure. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Doug Ford travelled to Washington to promote trade and his “Fortress North America” proposal. Unfortunately, his reception was cancelled. Not exactly the kind of warm welcome you put in the brochure. 🫣 We also learned an Air Canada pilot allegedly flew commercial aircraft for years without the proper airline transport pilot licence. Not gonna lie, that’s not the kind of frequent flyer program I was hoping for. ✈️😳 Record numbers of people are leaving Canada. Which is awkward for a country that keeps telling us everything is going great… “technically” The Canadian dollar also hit a rough patch this week. Apparently it heard the emigration numbers and wanted to leave too. 😂 Mark Carney announced a new National Food Security Strategy because grocery prices are too high. Admittedly, noticing grocery prices are too high is probably the most relatable thing a Liberal politician has said all year. 😂 We also learned that Ottawa wants to ban social media for kids under 16. It’s for the children. At least that’s what we’re told every time the government wants more control over something. 🤔 We also learned that if Elon Musk becomes the world’s first trillionaire, some people are already preparing emotionally. The Globe and Mail literally published an opinion piece titled: “SpaceX is set to make Elon Musk the first trillionaire. Here’s how to properly hate him.” Apparently we’re pre-planning our resentment now. 😂 🏆 Grok’s Best Answer of the Week I asked Grok to rank Canada’s biggest propaganda machines.
