Got my 2nd COVID vaccine today. More exciting was seeing all the elderly San Franciscans lined up in rooms @UCSF getting their shots. Always proud to be a part of the health system and community I grew up in but seeing this was special @UCSFCancer @UCSFHospitals @Bob_Wachter

Can we talk about vaccine distribution? I spent yesterday (on my commute, in clinic btw pts) trying to get my non/poor-English speaking mom and dad (late 70s) and grandpa (94) vaccine appts. I got 3 appts <1hr drive from SF within 1-3 weeks. This is what it took. THREAD

Great. I’m proud resourcefulness honed by years of medical training made this effort successful but WTF!?!What are old Chinese people who don’t have medical/tech-savvy English-speaking kids to do? BTW none of the 3 got notice to sign up for vaccines from their PCP.
