Shameful details that police & Mears evacuated staff, not residents & then, after attack, moved them to a bus on hard shoulder overnight. This would never be contemplated in other emergency relocations eg floods, when emergency shelters spring up. The 'asylum market' is violence.
Utterly appalling reports from the Rotherham hotel attack. They evacuated the staff & left the residents. They extinguished some of the fires themselves. They knew this hotel was going to be attacked & they left people there. theguardian.com/uk-news/arti…

Number of UK asylum seekers who died in Home Office care doubles in a year. Force people into warehouses, without the right to work, on less than subsistence income, without a route out, this is the inevitable consequence. Cruelty constructed by design theguardian.com/uk-news/arti…

Community solidarity is the only way to beat hate and division. Last night, we showed up in our 1000s to resist the far right, from London to Liverpool. We're inspired by the beautiful show of solidarity. We'll never stop fighting to resist racism and attacks on our neighbours

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dinghy.

After far-right firebomb attacks on hotels housing asylum seekers in 2022, MPs were explicitly warned against publicly naming hotels. Dangerously irresponsible that this practice has continued, putting lives at risk. It must end.

This isn't about one man....it is about the impact this one man has on the wider picture of child sexual abuse around the world. Van de velde lessens the seriousness of abuse. I believe his participation must stop before MORE children are violated by abusers believing they deserve privileges because of how this story has been played out by the Dutch team.

Today, we're at the High Court for the first day of the legal case against the use of RAF Wethersfield as asylum accommodation. We've conducted medical assessments of people held at the site & witnessed first-hand the harm caused since it opened over a year ago. 🧵 (1/5)

Well done to @nicolademarti12 for your enduring work and the publishing of your long awaited book! Especially interested in how community activities, in this case music, facilitate explorations of place, belonging and uncertainty. Looking forward to reading it!
A few years in the making, I am stoked to see "Music, Forced Migration and Emplacement: Sounds of Asylum Bristol" out w/@Palgrave. Very grateful for the generous endorsements from Nichola Khan, @Arts32 & Brett Lashua link.springer.com/book/10.10… @BU_SPARC @BU_SeldomHeard @LARAfund
