If a travel coach is pitching his starters 105-108-105 in September and using the same closer for 3 games in 2 days, that is not a coach who gives a shit about your future as a college pitcher, that's a guy who cares about his "showcase scout select whatever the hell you call it team" more than your health and they are trying to build their brand off your back and arm. I don't care what "scout team" you are playing against there is no excuse for that. When you go from 90-92 to 84-87 in the same weekend, you're not getting exposure, you are getting exposed. I got several starters in the minor leagues and after researching their starts this morning the most any of them have thrown in a game the past 3 years was 96, and that's a 20-year-old pro whose getting paid to pitch, not a 17-year-old kid going into his senior year of HS. You are a fool and don't need to be coaching people's children. YOUR HS GUYS ARE NOT WORKHORSES Rant over

You don’t control the outcome. You control how prepared you are when the outcome is still undecided.

If your players want to coach when they are finished playing because of your example. You did a great job.

If you want to get down to the optics of what I do as a pitching coach with the guys I work with, well that’s a whole different thread.

You have to be flexible as a coach. My way may not work for everyone and I’m ok with it. I will NEVER tell a kid to stop playing for his travel/club team. If they want to get on the field with us, we do need to see them though.
