The article starts as: Since December I have been following what has happened in Iran, and since January the fragments have slowly come out: films, testimonies, names and faces. Children, adults and young people with their whole lives ahead of them. I have seen tributes to those who were killed, photographs from birthdays, weddings and ordinary days. People who had families, friends, plans and dreams for the future and who basically did not demand anything more than what we ourselves take for granted: the right to live free.

علی زارعی، از آسیب‌دیدگان چشمی خیزش ۱۴۰۱ و زندانی سیاسی میهن‌پرست، در پیامی تلفنی از زندان قزل‌حصار اعلام کرد حکم اعدام ناعادلانه او در دادگاه جمهوری اسلامی تأیید شده است. علی زارعی با تأکید بر این که هیچ اقدام خشونت‌باری انجام نداده، از سازمان‌های حقوق بشری و افکار عمومی جهان خواست تا صدای او باشند و نگذارند جمهوری اسلامی او را اعدام کند. او با تاکید بر وفاداری‌اش به میهن و ملت ایران گفت: همچون همیشه ستایم سه فر: یکی فر یزدان، یکی فر شاه، دگر فر ایران. صدای علی زارعی باشیم و نگذاریم ماشین اعدام و کشتار جمهوری اسلامی جان این جوان میهن‌پرست و شجاع را بگیرد.

100 days ago, on January 8th and 9th, millions of Iranians took to the streets knowing the price they might pay. More than 40,000 heroes paid that price for Iran's dignity, liberty, and freedom. Young women tore off their headscarves in front of armed security forces. Students organized, marched, and faced plainclothes agents on campuses. Teachers, lawyers, and workers walked off their jobs. Shopkeepers shuttered their stores in solidarity. Millions of ordinary people did extraordinary things in city after city in an epic display of national unity. The regime answered with bullets, mass arrests, and show trials and executions. Facing an inhuman evil, Iranians showed superhuman bravery. More than 40,000 gave their lives. My compatriots kept going and their courage belongs to history. This is the final battle and they are preparing to win the war against the Islamic Republic. In this battle to reclaim our nation, I will not stop fighting until the day they are free. We hope the world will be with us. Whether it is or not, our fight will continue and we will liberate Iran.
