Dudley
Yesterday I joined the launch of the Dudley NEET Taskforce, bringing together schools, colleges, employers, training providers and the council. Hearing directly from young people was so important. I'll be working with partners to turn this into real opportunities across Dudley.

Out on patrol in Dudley with Operation Advance. Extra police resources tackling what residents raise w/ me most: organised crime, dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour. I introduced Ch Insp Robins & Ch Supt Davies to shop owners hit by thefts, so they could raise it directly

Dudley has been making things for generations, and it's still going strong. For National Manufacturing Day I visited Darvick, who test materials for Rolls-Royce, and Handicare, whose stairlifts keep people independent at home. Skilled jobs, right here in our borough.

We're delighted to welcome @SoniaKumarMP to speak at "The New Industrial Strategy: How Do We Deliver Growth for the Real Economy?" at Labour Party Conference 2026! Before entering Parliament in 2024, Sonia spent her career as a frontline NHS physiotherapist — becoming Dudley's first female MP after unseating the Conservative incumbent with a message built on trust and real-world experience, not career politics. Since then, she's spoken openly about the need to protect the economy and back small businesses across her constituency. Join us as we explore how the new Industrial Strategy can deliver real growth for the real economy and Britain's small businesses. Monday 28 September 2026 11:00 – 11:45 ACC Liverpool In partnership with @AllicaBank 🔗Register here: sme4labour.org/labour_party_…

Great to be at Dudley College's Freshers Fair. Brogan told me about her boxing and her work empowering women in sport. We need more women like her, and like Dudley's own @bavvo_ Kirstie Bavington, who I've named in Parliament. Women in sport deserve proper investment.

Dudley cannot afford to lose another generation of young people. I asked the Minister to back Dudley College's plan for alternative provision for children with SEND. She has agreed to meet me to discuss it. There is no room for complacency.

86 years ago today, the Battle of Britain reached its turning point. On Sunday I joined RAF veterans, Standard Bearers and Air Cadets from across the Black Country at Dudley's anniversary parade and Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph. We will remember them.

Over recent months, residents have contacted my office after Dudley Council staff directed them to me about missed bins, housing and other council services. This is unacceptable. The council must take responsibility, resolve complaints and stop sending residents elsewhere.

My state school education gave me the opportunity to become a barrister. Now, a false media story about that education will help Derby students follow the same path. Our justice system is stronger when talent from every background can be part of it. theguardian.com/education/20…

🚸 After years of inaction by Dudley’s Conservative-led council, a wider puffin crossing outside Red Hall School is finally under consultation. I’ve raised this twice in Parliament and brought the minister to the school. Now the council must confirm and deliver it.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. A simple conversation—checking in, listening without judgement and reminding someone they’re not alone—could save a life. If you’re struggling, Samaritans are available free, day or night, on 116 123. There is always hope.

Today I announced 950 projects across England worth £1.5bn to make hospitals safer for patients and staff. To make our NHS more resilient, including to extreme weather. To tackle the backlog in NHS capital investment since 2009 step by step.
Building an NHS fit for the future means making our hospitals more resilient for extreme weather in the winter and extreme heat in the summer, and investing in new operating theatres, children's wards, maternity units and mental health facilities. More: gov.uk/government/news/over-…

🚪 Great to be out in Upper Gornal and Woodsetton at the weekend, knocking on doors and listening to residents. Thanks to everyone who stopped for a chat and shared what matters to you. There’s no substitute for getting out into our communities and listening. 🌹
