#NASA completed a successful launch to boost the #NeilGehrelsSwiftObservatory at 8:36 pm Marshal Islands Time (4:36am EDT) on Friday, July 3 from Kwajalein Atoll in the South Pacific Ocean after several delays. #NorthrupGrumman's L-1011 Stargazer aircraft carried the Pegasus XL rocket to an altitude of 40,000 feet where it separated from the Pegasus rocket, after which, the rocket's stages were fired in sequence to reach its intended altitude. Pegasus is a three-stage launch vehicle capable of delivering up to 1000 pounds into low earth orbit. It can launch from virtually anywhere on Earth with minimal ground support which makes it ideal for missions as critical and time sensitive as this, where other launchers would never have been able to meet the time constraints. #KatalystSpace built LINK, a robotic servicing spacecraft that will deploy and rendezvous with the Swift Observatory to perform the boost to bring Swift back to a safe orbit. Now that the mission is finally underway, the next step is to await for a signal from LINK to confirm the solar panels have deployed as planned and that all power systems are running as needed. We will follow NASA's Swift blog as this mission progresses. Read more about the Swift Mission on our original story HERE -> spacepoint.org/post/saving-s…. Watching the sun this morning... solar activity is minimal lately with only four active regions. While most of us love the aurora the solar flares bring, these events also release dangerous amounts of high-energy particles that can damage spacecraft and harm humans. We continue to study these impacts to ensure the safety for a lasting future in space. This image was photographed at 7:45am EST Jun 15, 2026 using Sony A7IV, 200-600mm at 600mm with solar filter. **Never attempt to photograph the sun without a proper solar filter! ** #solarweather #sunspots

A new day... and our future. Simple iPhone shot of the VAB and Seestar s30 Pro of the moon from the same location. > S30 Pro really shines on DSOs but still fair at best on Moon and Planetary imaging. Still a great tool, portable, simple.

Several memorable @NASAArtemis II shots but we love this one for context. 4 explorers and their ship, traveling further than any human in history. Inspiration is over used but whatever word we use, how does this not drive one to think, we have to move faster?
