Gaussian Splats are quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to move complex 3D assets between workflows. For this test I started with Panthera Spelaea, the Blender 5.2 splash artwork by Joanna Kobierska, available from Blender.org under CC-BY. Using GPT-6 Astra, I had it build a 200-frame camera rig and send the renders directly to @rendernetwork through the API and export a COLMAP data set. NEXT: COLMAP → Postshot → Gaussian Splat. The result is a real-time, high-fidelity version of an insanely dense asset - millions of hairs and all - that I can now bring back into @OTOY Octane, relight, reframe, drop into other scenes, or even publish straight to the web. Capture the visual complexity once, then carry it anywhere. Check out the splat: superspl.at/scene/7e4e9bcb

It worked out much better than I thought and the relighting in Octane was super clean!

This is seriously cool Spencer 🔥 Love seeing the whole workflow actually put together like this. Great work!

Lovely work by Joanna. I love the tech since the first nerf samples and later 3dgs and so on. Just asking, what do you think about high reflective hard surface models to splat? 🤔 Looks like that's more or less the hard limit, when reflections drifting "into" models and so on. 😔

Ya that's a tough one. The heavy reflections tend to train in a hallucinogenic way and you get some strange sparse depth. The good thing is if you stick to the trained camera trajectories you could still almost never tell BUT free orbit you'll see holes and gaps. One way to help resolve it is a denser point distribution in those areas and that helps to mitigate it slightly when training, but still quite the fall back for splats atm.

Hello Spenser. Is it possible to create ultra-realistic house from a PDF files and reference images inside Blender in order to be interactive?

awkward clicks teach the product; a live 3D viewer is where that lesson shows up fast.
