Four EU countries have refused to finance a new €45 billion loan to Ukraine — Welt
🔵Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, following Bulgaria, are demanding to be exempted from their obligations regarding guarantees for the new European loan to Kyiv.
🔵It is planned that Ukraine will receive an additional €70 billion in 2027.
🔵Of this, approximately €25 billion could be provided by Canada, Japan, and other partners, while the remaining €45 billion will be provided by European countries as a loan.
🔵Budapest, Prague, and Bratislava are seeking the same exemption they previously received when they agreed to a €90 billion loan. Bulgaria has also refused to participate in the new financial assistance.
🔵The EU is also considering the possibility of repaying the loan using frozen Russian assets, but there are still no definitive guarantees for such a mechanism.
