people ask me where the good alpha is. I run a token launchpad so i'm probably supposed to have a great answer to this. my honest answer is that I think slow and steady wealth building beats alpha, and I've thought this for a while. if a get rich quick approach worked reliably, the people who found it first would already be rich, everyone around them would be copying it and by the time anyone was talking about it publicly the edge would already be gone. when it does work it works for a few people in a short window and the main variable is luck not skill. luck is not repeatable. the slower way, in which you're genuinely understanding something over time and making boring low variance decisions, doesn't make for a good timeline. almost nobody writes about it. but the truth is that the people i've watched build wealth in crypto over a decade have done work that would look a lot more boring than anything you see on the timeline. idk, maybe that's just cope (but I don't think so)

Given some rumors, wanted to post a few clarifications: Farcaster is not shutting down. The protocol works and will continue to work. There were 250,000 MAU in December and over 100,000 funded wallets. The acquirer, Neynar, is a venture-backed startup and plans to shift Farcaster in a more developer-focused direction. As for Merkle, we’re planning to return the full $180M raised back to investors. Over the last 5 years, we tried to be a good steward of investor capital. Finally, I bought my house with Coinbase IPO proceeds.

We need to make it more valuable, easier, more compelling to share. Trenchers: You should look for products and coins that are actually worth spreading, and that you honestly believe in. Not just the smallest cap memecoin that you think you can convince others to buy before you move on to the next. Great things get built when we don’t settle for cheap shortcuts. It’s a culture thing. Trenching being a major part of crypto culture is a sign of dysfunction — of lacking extreme value in our products. If we want to cross the chasm to mainstream users, we need to be honest, and challenge our products and communities to be worth existing.
