Tanzania’s competition regulator has blocked a deal that would have given Tanzanian tycoon Rostam Aziz a large stake in the company that runs the Songo Songo gas field, which produces about half of the country’s natural gas.
The Fair Competition Commission issued a notice on Oct. 5 prohibiting the merger application filed for the transaction, Orca Energy Group Inc., the field’s Canadian-listed operator, said in a statement late on Oct. 9. The commission gave no reasons.

One thing I respect about Julius Malema and the EFF is that despite a plateau at the polls, he has never succumbed to afrophobic populism in order to gain votes.
Truly, it would've been so easy to ride the anti-immigrant wave and scapegoat foreigners, especially in Limpopo, Gauteng and KZN.
Politicians around the world easily use "hate" as an electioneering tool – find a minority group & blame them for everything. An old script. A violent script.
But the EFF has remained rooted in its pan-African philosophy, taken the flak for it, and made numerous policy proposals to solve some of our social problems WITHOUT centering foreign nationals as prime evil.

Why are Kenyans offended by this tweet I thought wanatake pride in being eloquent in English “the Queen’s language” sasa hadi kiswahili “cha waswahili” wanaking’ang’ania 😂
I don’t know Swahili but whenever I hear Kenyans and Tanzanians speak it, I get the sense that Kenyan Swahili sounds like a diluted version of the language while Tanzanian Swahili sounds more authentic and closer to what I imagine the original Swahili should sound like.
