Farming is hard enough without uncertainty over the schemes farmers are being asked to rely on. I’ve joined colleagues in pressing the Environment Secretary for answers on SFI26 and for a clear timetable, budget and fairer approach to SFI27.

A pleasure as always to sit down with local businesses to hear directly about what’s going well and the challenges they’re facing at my Business Breakfast Club. Delighted to have been re-adopted as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the Daventry Constituency at the next General Election. A huge thank you to local members for their continued support and confidence.

A welcome step forward for Onley Park residents. There was some ambiguity in the Minister’s answer, as she said the work would take around 12 months but also referred to completion by January 2027. I expect she meant the works are due to commence then. I have asked the Minister to confirm the timescales, but we should nonetheless have much greater clarity in November once the programme of works is published.

It was a pleasure to attend Northampton and Lamport Railway’s 30 Year Gala and see so many people enjoying the celebrations. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to keep the railway running and preserve it for future generations.

Good to be in Buckton Fields this weekend, speaking with residents on the doorstep about the issues that matter to them. I went back to Daventry Community Centre car park after residents raised concerns about potholes and overgrown landscaping. Some vegetation has been cut back, but the potholes remain and overgrowth is still taking up parking spaces. I’ve raised both issues again with West Northamptonshire Council and will keep pressing for the outstanding work to be completed.

I’ve been out in Farthingstone looking at road conditions residents have raised with me, including the road from Everdon Stubbs into the village and concerns about the quality of previous repairs. I’ve asked West Northamptonshire Council to urgently review the roads affected. Residents deserve proper, lasting repairs - not the same problems returning.

In Parliament today, I challenged the Prime Minister on the continued loss of productive agricultural land to large scale solar developments. We can support renewable energy while protecting the countryside and the land our farmers need to produce food.

After nearly 10 years serving on the frontbench, I will now be returning to the backbenches. It has been a privilege to serve in numerous roles in Government and in Opposition, and I am grateful for all the support I have received personally from colleagues, my Shadow Health team and my constituency team. I would also like to thank all those working across the NHS and social care for their help and cooperation in my most recent role. I am proud of the role I played in the months immediately after the General Election in ensuring we hit the ground running in Opposition, and I wish Kemi, my successor and the whole Shadow Cabinet every success for the future. I now look forward to continuing to work hard on behalf of all my constituents in the wonderful Daventry constituency.

I was pleased to add my name to this letter. Family farms are at the heart of rural communities across the Daventry Constituency. They produce our food, support local jobs and are often built up over generations. The Government should listen to our farmers and think again.

People are waiting far too long for ADHD and autism assessments, while the NHS is paying wildly different prices for the same kind of care. Ministers need to listen to NHS leaders and sort this out so patients get timely, safe support and taxpayers get proper value for money.

With the Health Bill back in the Commons next month, this is something I’ll be looking closely at. The NHS needs reform, but major structural changes must not disrupt the important work already underway to improve care for patients.

This is very welcome. Nearly four million women who are overdue for screening will now be able to order an HPV test to do at home. Hopefully this makes it easier for more women to get checked.
