Nothing against you personally, but this isn't the flex you think it is. Kenya alone spends almost double that amount on education every year,so no,that $3.5bn won't achieve much in those 90 countries its meant for.

Systems like this don't need megamaniacal sadists for them to work the way they do,they just need normal human beings with normal biases who believe they are pursuing a noble cause.
The system works by inviting young, naive, education bureaucrats and teachers (!) with lofty promises that they are promoting education. They sincerely want to do good, but this isn't about what they believe. It's about the logic of the institution that makes their individual commitment largely .... irrelevant.

This is a symptom of a much larger problem:hatred for work and expertise. Students aren't interested in knowledge,they just want the paper. And since wazungus have hypnotised Kenyans to believe that western degrees are "premium" they end up in running battles with immigration.
If you go abroad to study without having all your school fees sorted, there is a high chance that in a few months, you will become depressed, hate the host country, or quit and leave.
Please do not be deceived into thinking that you can simply work and pay your fees. It will be extremely difficult, painful, and stressful.

A political economy has already formed around mentorship and motivational speakers in schools;teachers and principles themselves are among this class of motivational speakers.
Mentorship speaking needs to be banned from schools. It ruins the perspective of our young people. It makes them think words and self-encouragement are a substitute for work. It needs to be uprooted from the education system.
Learning history and literature should be enough.

beyond their initial deposit . Studying abroad comes with significant financial responsibilities. If you are planning to study overseas, make sure you have sufficient funds to support yourself and meet your tuition obligations throughout your studies. Otherwise, the consequences.

Romanticised past is just so cringe. You're talking of a time where basic literacy levels were extremely low and only a handful made it to higher Ed. Also,our medieval political economy could still support those public services because the population was only a tenth of today.
Nairobi city council used to run proper primary schools bana.. you had poor kids exposed to everything, we even had European trips for those that could afford, kids had libraries with Shakespeare.. chukua Achebe.. you have old experience female teachers as your landing ground
