He spent his 30s partying at nightclubs & rubbing shoulders with VIPs (familiar?). Then the Lebanese civil war broke out. When the Lebanese civil war broke out OBL's construction company was building 2 major mosques worth millions, the projects were paused, nightclubs closed, and the world collapsing drove him towards religious indoctrination. When he returned to Saudi Arabia he was basically a born-again Muslim. At the time OBL returned to Saudi Arabia from Lebanon, the KSA was in a full oil boom generating unprecedented wealth, led to wide spread corruption, organized crime, etc, which the newly converted OBL opposed and drove him to performatively become more religious to prove he was Islam maxxing. OBL became obnoxiously Islamic while still hanging out with Saudi Royals, the Saudis at this point were more interested in buying yachts and hanging out with celebrities. OBL got really pissed and then to prove how serious he was, he decided to join the war against the USSR in Afghanistan. Once in Afghanistan OBL used his wealth to fund fighters, raise infrastructure, and indoctrinate a bunch of people further as they faced a massive superpower. People finally started paying attention to OBL and his new found Islamic identity. OBL used his ties to US VIPS to link with the CIA etc. When USSR was defeated OBL returned to Saudi Arabia expecting to be seen as a big tough guy and voice for Islam. The Saudis still found him obnoxiously Islamic and started excluding him from their yacht parties and celebrity get togethers. This drove OBL to get even more into Islam maxxing. Then came the tipping point, Iraq started threatening to invade Kuwait. OBL saw this as his chance to prove himself to Saudi Arabia and offered to take his private military to Iraq fight off Saddam. Saudi Arabia said "no thanks, you are going to come back and shoot us too" which lowkey, he was. Then on top of Saudi Arabia rejecting his offer to defend the country (his private forces were stronger than Saudis at the time), the royals instead accepted the US request to station US troops in Saudi Arabia. OBL saw this as the beginning of an invasion by non Muslims and got really angry. OBL then started spamming Saudi royals with complaints and long text messages and letters (sound familiar) and telling less wealthy Saudis that the country was being sold out to non Muslim foreigners and that the US was secretly invading. The royals saw how popular he was getting and exiled him. When OBL was exiled they also stripped him of his wealth, his yachts, his mansions, his private jets, and sent to Egypt. They chose the US over him and his offered services. Then he got approached by terrorists and repeatedly tried to assassinate the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak. Egypt said "wtf why did you assholes send this lunatic over here? what the hell" and the US told Egypt that they should exile him again... but this time to Sudan. That really pissed him off and clued him in that it was the US that exiled him in the first place, so he declared war on the US. Before OBL declared war on the US, he was already talking badmouthing the US and Israel, and used Israel actions in Palestine and Lebanon to build up his core audience and believers. He later used this as a pretext for all his terrorist activity, including the attacks on the world trade center. The reality of OBL's rage was that he was feeling hurt and vengeful that his wealth and access to VIPs was stripped, that the US rag dolled him all over MENA, and that in his mind he was only trying to stop Saudi Arabia from losing its sovereignty to US oligarchs, which he personally knew. OBL hit the US with two terrorist attacks through out the 90s, and then got REALLY triggered when George W Bush got elected because the government that led to his exile was George H.W. Bush's. Whose family were close to his family, and part of his social circle before getting really into Islam. tl;dr wealthy nepo loser that hates women, annoys all the rich people in his country, talks alot of shit, gets exiled because of the US, gets really mad, kills a lot of people. The end. The lesson is, that being too wealthy and then being deranged no matter the reason, is extremely dangerous.
