Genocide narratives are ultimately at the peak of their utility at the post war negotiation table, when you’re trying to extract as much money as possible from the loser. Nobody learns anything from a genocide they weren’t directly a victim to, let alone humanity as a whole.

The spiritual path is a contorted struggle arising from the resistance within us, deeply ingrained patterns & habits that cling tenaciously to the familiar, even when it no longer serves our growth. A constant tug-of-war between the yearning for liberation & the pull of the ego.
What a spiritual practice actually looks like:

What we refuse to confront within ourselves, we project onto others.
Sectarianism is defined by a refusal to engage in dialogue or cooperate with other groups because of theoretical or ideological differences, a refusal to investigate beyond one’s existing assumptions, and a tendency to cling to superficial understandings. Over time, this turns a political movement inward, transforming it from a mass organization into a closed in-group. Over time, the in-group begins to police itself. Disagreement becomes disloyalty, criticism becomes betrayal, and members compete to prove ideological purity. The boundaries of acceptable thought keep shrinking until former allies are recast as enemies. At that point, the movement is no longer fighting outward for change. It is cannibalizing itself.

You are being replaced, but you’re viewing it through race instead of labour. You were useful to capital when you were the poor, hungry immigrants. Now you’re being replaced by the same, because there is always someone more desperate who can do the work for less. Capital doesn’t care about your race. It cares about how much it can profit from your labour. So is Marxist internationalism really a thing? Yes. Yes, it is. “No nation can be free if it oppresses other nations.” -Lenin, 1916 Genuine international worker solidarity requires opposing the exploitation of workers across national borders, not turning workers of one nation against workers of another.
One minute before I started recording, this man was hanging out of a seven-story apartment window doing maintenance with no safety line. Only one leg hooked in the frame was keeping him from falling. New York City is no different than most major cities in America: to save money, landlords hire Latino workers off the books and pay them under the table -- without a care in the world about the safety of these incredibly hard-working people.

The oppressor uses force to maintain domination and deny another person’s humanity, which ultimately dehumanizes themselves. The oppressed resist to reclaim their own humanity and end the oppression. In doing so, they also give the oppressor the chance to recover the humanity they lost through dominating and oppressing others. This is why, the minute the oppressed fight back, the oppressors suddenly see themselves as the victims. And when the oppressors become the victims, suddenly they discover morality. Now the oppressed are the violent ones. They’re dangerous. They’re hateful. They’re the threat. When you’ve spent your whole life experiencing domination as normal, losing that power over others feels like oppression. Being told you can no longer dominate someone else feels like something is being taken away from you. Notes from Pedagogy of the Oppressed Paulo Freire, Brazilian Catholic educator and philosopher

Repentance (metanoia, Greek μετάνοια) means a change of mind and heart that produces a change in direction: turning away from what separates us from God and turning back toward Him.

“In the United States of North America, every independent movement of the workers was paralysed so long as slavery disfigured a part of the Republic. Labour in the white skin cannot emancipate itself where it is branded in the black skin.” — Karl Marx, Capital, Vol. I (1867).

French political philosophy gave us one of the most influential formulations of social contract theory: Rousseau’s Du contrat social (The Social Contract, 1762). Legitimate sovereign authority comes from the people, not from the divine right of kings. The French take violations of this contract very seriously. And well they should.
I have now been informed by several French educators that they completely support what’s going on in France right now. Just as well, because it’s happening in any case.

A glimmer of hope in all this madness is that they will come to their passionate sense again. For the record Quebec, we love you. We need you. We can’t live without you. Amour, sauvage amour.
The vast majority of Quebecers aren’t buying what the Parti Québécois is selling “More importantly, a minority PQ government is in no position to call a referendum.” #polqc cultmtl.com/2026/10/the-vast…
