If obedience is the gospel, then the gospel becomes about what I do instead of what Christ has done. The gospel is the good news that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again for our justification. That’s a proclamation to believe, not a command to perform. The gospel isn’t about us, it’s about Jesus. The gospel is FOR us. Obedience is the fruit of the gospel, not the gospel itself. We obey because we’ve been saved, not in order to be saved. Confusing the two turns good news into law

Which you haven’t done and neither did he. You completely miss the point of the story of the rich young ruler

The text says he kept God's commandments. You invent doctrine that isnt even there.

You don’t keep the commandments, and you haven’t kept the law.I know this for a fact. No man is justified by law keeping, due to the weakness & sinful nature of the flesh. The law can only expose our sin and the need for a Savior, that’s why God sent His Son to be the propitiation

Man cannot save himself,no matter how hard we try! This is why Christ kept the entire law and His commandments, lived a perfect sinless life, fulfilled all that was pertaining to Him in the scriptures, and offered himself as the ultimate sacrifice & atonement for the sin of the world

Hence why the scriptures state that “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household.”
