I’ll tell you what: the postseason is one of those times (along with the All-Star Game) when I miss the AL and NL having different rules.
In the NL playoff series, pitchers batting added another wrinkle to the question of how long you let your starter go.
In the WS, the novelty of the two best teams left standing having to navigate unfamiliar things like how to play small ball in the NL park and who to DH in the AL park was always really fun to watch.
On balance, over the grind of 162, I’m mostly — MOSTLY — in favor of the universal DH. But watching these amazing teams play in October… I just really miss the feelings of “the Mets get a DH tonight??” and “Chuck Nagy has to WHAT??”
