A retired three-star SOCOM general told investigative journalist Steve Baker something that should make people pay attention... “With it we can stop your heart, we can make you shit your pants.” Baker made the statement during his interview with Tucker Carlson while describing what sources inside the special operations community have called a backpack-sized “agitation weapon”, a directed-energy system he says can produce physiological effects and, depending on how it’s configured, potentially influence people in a crowd. Baker says he has interviewed members of the unit, a former Secretary of the Army, and two people who participated in the weapon’s development. Directed-energy weapons are not theoretical. The U.S. Government Accountability Office says DOD has been developing directed-energy weapons for decades, including high-energy lasers, high-power microwaves and millimeter-wave systems. GAO says these technologies can produce effects ranging from deterrence to destruction and that DOD spends roughly $1 billion annually developing directed-energy capabilities. The Department of Defense has also publicly documented Active Denial Technology, a 95-GHz directed-energy system developed for applications including crowd control.
