21 year old Jackson Koivun played a full season at college before turning pro to join the PGA Tour. He has now joined Tiger Woods as the only players to ever make it to the FedExCup playoffs in just 5 starts.
After finishing T29 at the Wyndham Championship to secure his spot in Memphis, he was asked what his goals were when he turned pro:
“I mean, obviously I wanted to make the Playoffs and I knew that was a farfetched goal. If I told myself back in June that I would be sitting at 70 and waiting it out in Greensboro, I think I'd be pretty happy.”
He then spoke about what it’s like to be in the record books alongside Tiger Woods:
“It's pretty cool. Obviously whenever you're in the record books with Tiger it's a good name to get acquainted with.”
He was also asked why it was so important to make it to the Playoffs:
“At the end of the day it's kind of the season-long goal, to make the Playoffs. Obviously starting a little late is definitely a hiccup in the road, but to be able to be in this position's really cool.”
Jackson came out of college with an enormous amount of hype, but after winning in his 4th pro start and making history by earning a spot in the Playoffs in just 5 starts, he’s living up to the hype so far.
