Is Craig going to exit soon like his buddy/sidekick Steve?

Despite some books by him & about him I still feel like his remarkable story is not appreciated & understood like it should be. Silver City, MS… where there was no silver and no city!

The characters are all straight out of central casting, but they are real people!

And he “only” had 39 pts & 19 rebounds in game 7 at Boston Garden the year before when the Hawks couldn’t quite get it done.

Some good Bob Pettit trivia… He was the color commentator with Dick Enberg on the iconic TV broadcast for the 1968 “Game of the Century” UCLA vs. Houston at The Astrodome.

Whenever the Final Four was in New Orleans, or when LSU was in one, I’d look for Bob Pettit in the stands & approach him at halftime or between games with items I’d have tucked in my folder for him to autograph. He was always nice to me about signing.

Highly recommend the film The American Game, grandfather to Hoosiers, Hoop Dreams, He Got Game.

He was Larry Bird version 1.0. The 50 points in Finals clinching game 6 in 1958 is amazing, but how about 39 pts & 19 rebounds in game 7 double OT loss at Boston Garden in 1957?

Today’s Treasure from my collection: Remembering Bob Pettit, who just passed away at 93. Whenever the Final Four was in New Orleans, or when LSU was in one, I’d look for Pettit in the stands & approach him at halftime with items I’d have tucked in my folder for him to autograph.
