A routine $200 oil change
Dropped my car off at the dealership for a routine $200 oil change.
4 hours later:
“Your car is ready. Total is $520.”
I only authorized $200.
Apparently they replaced filters and fluids without asking because it’s their “mandatory safety policy.”
Then they held my keys until I paid.
So you can just perform $320 worth of work I never approved and force me to pay for it?
How is this even legal?

Spent the day at Clean Water Fest learning about stormwater runoff and the wastewater treatment process. Saw a model showing how rainwater runoff moves across paved and vegetated surfaces, the screw pumps that elevate incoming sewage, and the finished effluent before it is discharged into the canal.
A lot goes into protecting our waterways.

Why would you sue the real estate agent? The agent isn’t a financial advisor. Even if the mortgage broker was saying this, it’s purely a guess.
It’s a tough lesson but personal accountability is needed in this example. The only one who agreed to the terms was the buyer
People are down bad who bought houses using adjustable rate mortgages. The lessons of 2008 did not stick.

I love seeing accounts like this get hit with community notes. I’m so tired of seeing the same stories pumped over and over relentlessly.
Also, this situation doesn’t make any sense. Use the $200,000 in profit you made on the house for a down payment on the next house.

The only people I know of who got wealthy buying individual stocks are people who work at an employee-owned company and can buy shares of the company they work for. It’s a high risk/reward tho
I’ve never met a rich person that talked about buying stocks as a way to get wealthy.
They all talk about finding a good job or building a business then investing into index funds.
