2+ years of building Chog. there have been so many fucking ups and downs. moments where things went completely to shit, moments where it felt like nothing was working, and moments where it would've been easier to just give up. but we didn't. we kept our heads down, stayed together, and kept building on the chog IP. through all the noise, all the setbacks, chog kept moving forward. and honestly, that's what I'm most proud of. huge thank you to everyone who's been here through this entire journey. the ogs, the people who came and went, the people who kept showing up, and everyone who's contributed to chog in some way. especially benja, our mods, developers, and everyone behind the scenes who kept pushing when nobody was watching. and of course, the community. you've supported us, fucked with us, built alongside us, and given chog a place to exist and grow. the nft isn't the final destination. it's barely the beginning of the beginning. we've been building chog for 2+ years. now we're just getting started. the psychology behind good NFT pfps. let's use @ChogNFT for an example because i'm a huge fan of their design and their collection looks incredible. personally, it comes down to 3 things: 1) "how does it look on the timeline?" first, we have to remind ourselves that these pfps will be used on X (and maybe other apps too). therefore, we have to view it in two different aspects: • mobile • desktop/laptop ultimately, it's a really small circle we're working with. so if your design isn't properly taking up the right amount of space, it will be difficult to recognize, yet alone, look "good" on the timeline. 2) the composition of the design let's take a look at chog's design in full view. • 90% of the composition is the character. • 10% is the background color. personally, this is unlike most traditional collections out there where there's a lot more of the background showing compared to the main character (azuki, pudgy penguins, degods) but, i have to admit and respect chog's decision on going this route because it matches their brand, vibe, and emotion they bring onto the timeline (memey, bold, comedic, etc.) 3) color combos i know many of these collections are generated, but when it's curated the right way where certain colors stack on top of each other really nicely, it becomes a pfp that's fairly aesthetically pleasing to look at. in our example, we're using @bigchog and his choice of red dominant colors. the supporting colors like cream white, the dark grey, black, white, and occasional pink makes the red stand out. this can be a side topic, but it takes an "eye" to understand and know which colors look good together and which ones don't. if you want more help on developing the "eye", check out my recent article pinned on my profile. -- what are your guys favorite NFT pfps and why? do you agree with my 3 reasons? comment and let's discuss below 👇
