One of the biggest economic scams is convincing people they're richer because their house is worth more. Great. Your $200,000 house is now worth $400,000. Unfortunately, the house you'd like to move into went from $300,000 to $600,000. Your property taxes went up. Your insurance went up. The interest rate went up. And your kid can't afford a starter home anywhere near you. Unless you're planning to sell your house and live in the woods, that extra $200,000 isn't changing your life. Congratulations on all your wealth.
