Culture shapes health across the lifespan. Today, we published two papers in @TheLancet on cultural engagement and arts as a global health resource. For me, this matters because cultural engagement can act as a salutogenic factor, helping prevent disease while actively supporting health and resilience. This may be particularly important for healthy aging, brain health, and dementia. The first paper outlines key priorities for advancing the science of arts and health, from mechanisms and cultural context to stronger global evidence. The second develops roadmaps for translating this knowledge into research, public health, clinical practice, and policy. Congrats to @NishaSajnani & Daisy Fancourt, and the whole team. Delighted to see these publications highlighted at #UNGA. @j_artshealthlab @CULTURUNNERS @UCL_SBB Read more: doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(2… doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(2…

Parkinson’s cases may have nearly quadrupled since 1990. We asked UCSF neurologist Carlie Tanner, MD, PhD, what’s driving the surge. Aging and genes don’t explain all of it. Her research points to environmental toxicants as an important contributor. ucsf.edu/news/2026/08/432396…
