في خطوة أثارت موجة من الجدل والاعتراضات المجتمعية، تتجه وزارة الثقافة لتحويل "خان أسعد باشا" الأثري العريق في قلب العاصمة السورية دمشق إلى فندق سياحي من فئة خمسة نجوم.
وعلمت "زمان الوصل" أن وزير الثقافة، محمد صالح، قد عقد مؤخراً سلسلة اجتماعات مع عدد من المستثمرين المهتمين باستثمار هذا المعلم التاريخي البارز، الذي شُيّد عام 1753م على يد والي دمشق العثماني آنذاك، أسعد باشا العظم.
🛑 إغلاق مفاجئ على غير العادة
وفي سياق التطورات الميدانية، رصد مراسل "زمان الوصل" اليوم حالة المعلم التاريخي، ليجده مغلقاً أمام الزوار والمارة على غير عادته. وأفادت مصادر مطلعة بأن الجهات المعنية اتخذت قراراً بإغلاق الخان مؤقتاً لحين استكمال المشاورات مع كافة الأطراف والجهات المختصة بشأن التوظيف النهائي للعقار، وبما يضمن توافقه مع القوانين والأنظمة المرعية لحماية الآثار.
🛑 مخاوف مجتمعية وثقافية
يأتي هذا القرار وسط تخوفات متزايدة لدى الأوساط الثقافية والمجتمعية من إحداث تغييرات إنشائية أو مساس بالهوية التاريخية والمعمارية للخان، الذي يُعد أحد أهم تحصينات العمارة الدمشقية التقليدية وواحةً للتراث الإنساني، مما يفتح الباب أمام تساؤلات مشروعة حول الضوابط التي ستُحكم بها عملية الاستثمار المقترحة.

NEW: Turkish intelligence (MİT) has captured Omar al-Khatib, a Syrian suspect wanted over the 2013 Reyhanlı bombing that killed 53 people, according to Turkish authorities.
Al-Khatib was detained while allegedly attempting to flee to Europe by sea. Authorities say he played a role in planning and organizing the attack and acted as a coordinator between the perpetrators and intelligence officials linked to the Assad regime.

📌 Syria's government is preparing to tap debt markets to fund a reconstruction bill estimated at over $200 billion, with Finance Minister Mohammad Yasser Barnieh confirming that direct state financing will be limited to strategic infrastructure that fails to attract private capital.
📌 The Ministry is finalizing the legislative framework to issue sovereign Islamic bonds (sukuk), with initial offerings to be denominated in Syrian pounds locally before expanding to foreign currencies.
📌 Barnieh projected an economic growth rate exceeding 11% and stated that the 2027 state budget deficit will be capped below $1.8 billion, insisting that recent fivefold public sector wage hikes were funded through real revenues rather than deficit spending.
📌 He stated that a newly overhauled tax code submitted to the People's Assembly lowers corporate tax rates to stimulate investment, introduces exemptions for low-income brackets, and strictly caps sovereign guarantees to mitigate long-term state liabilities.
