Messi was not making those levels. That's why Ronaldo has more appearances because he was good enough to keep qualifying. On international level, Ronaldo never retired, Messi retired. That's why Ronaldo kept playing more matches and scoring more goals. Are we being for real? Deadliest injuries, Messi has missed over 200 matches in his career due to injury. Ronaldo has only missed like 60 to 80 matches due to injuries. So Ronaldo only played more matches than Messi because Ronaldo was simply better. We make it look like, ah, Ronaldo started first.
