Thoughts on fuel prices on my drive home. The limiting factor right now with the price of gas / diesel in the US is primarily refineries. Big oil companies like centralizing them for efficiency. Cities have a NIMBY attitude about them. Government regulation makes building and operating them problematic in some states. If I had the money, I'd build a bunch of small, modular refineries, small enough to be mobile if I could. Small footprint and able to be moved and set up in areas with high fuel prices (or just across the state border). Make them semi-mobile so that as prices fall again or legislation opposes them, you could just move them elsewhere.

X's algorithm is weird. I reference authors and books, I get nothing. I talk TV shows, I get lots of traction. I mention engineering concepts, I get either nothing or a ton of views. As a question, how do you get around the algo?

Over the past few days I have heard a number of very sober, well-reasoned commentators on the political right talking about the midterms and related polling. They uniformly speak about the House already being a lost cause for the GOP, and they focus on whether the GOP can hold the Senate. Things do not need to be this way. Trump won in 2024 by large margins. The only reason that cannot be repeated this fall is if YOU—the average Trump voter—decides to let it happen. I know, I know, I know. Trump has not made all of your hopes and dreams come true in two years’ time. You think he has done nothing, even though he has had profound victory after profound victory in areas like immigration and downsizing the federal government. You have your pet issue that has not been satisfied to the extent you demand, so you want to “Stay home and send them a message.” Yes the GOP sucks. It’s a heinous mess of self-interest and failed status quo maintenance. But the only thing worse is the Democrat Party. We are running against LITERAL COMMUNISTS who want to abolish the Senate, pack the Supreme Court, add two new deep blue states, open the borders to unlimited immigration and succumb to creeping Sharia and jihad in order to literally destroy the nation. (Plus, they will spend the next two years impeaching Trump and everyone in his orbit, fully defeating what you voted for in 2024.) So you have two choices. It’s a binary choice, there is no third option: 1. Vote for doing everything we can to pursue MAGA even if that’s not perfect. 2. Stay home and become ruled by literal Communists who want you dead. Choose. We can still win this fall, we just need the will to do it.

Those Republicans determined to sit out the midterms because their pet MAGA issue was not addressed to their satisfaction in the past 2 years need to be mindful of three things: 1) Trump has carried the vast majority of the MAGA agenda forward on his own shoulders, with little-to-no help from either Congress or the judiciary. One man can do only so much. 2) By withholding your vote, WITH CERTAINTY, you let the enemies of all we hold dear win by default. They have already told us what they will do if they regain power: reverse/undo every MAGA gain; tie up the next two years with investigations and impeachment of Trump, his cabinet members and other loyalists; and re-open our borders to unchecked invasion. 3) Say farewell to any chance of election integrity reform. Dems will change all the rules so that we can never vote our way back into the majority. Wake up. The wolf is at the door. Unite. VOTE!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Water-cooled weapons make some sense in this context, as you can vent steam to cool the weapon. If you use integrated liquid cooling heat sinks, you could use that waste heat to eject propellant either for movement or to counter zero-g spin forces from recoil.
