The Ummah is invoked every time a child dies in Gaza. Two billion people, we are told. The largest collective of human beings bound by a common framework of obligation in the world. And somehow this immensity produces: hashtags. Produces: summits with no outcomes. Produces: the specific diplomatic language of outrage carefully worded to demand nothing actionable. Two billion people. And Gaza is slaughtered. The math of that failure is not theological. It is political. It is the math of governments that have decided their relationship with Washington is worth more than their stated relationship with God. That calculation is not hidden. It is written in every trade agreement, every arms purchase, every normalized diplomatic tie maintained through everything. The Ummah is real. Its governments are not representing it.
