HERE'S HOW THE ECI'S RESPONSE PUNCHES HOLES IN THE “VOTE CHORI” “IMPEACHMENT” ARGUMENT. The Indian Express investigation raised questions. The ECI has answered several of them: 1. SIR WAS NOT A CEC SOLO PROJECT. The June 24, 2025 SIR order and subsequent schedules were approved UNANIMOUSLY by the full Commission. 2. FORM 6 WAS NOT ARBITRARILY REWRITTEN. The ECI says the SIR declaration attached to Form 6 has been upheld by the Supreme Court. Outside SIR, the statutory forms continue to apply. 3. THE 97 GOA CASE IS NOT 97 PERMANENTLY “STOLEN” VOTES. The ECI says BLOs have been sent to the affected voters; 81 of 97 have already filed Form 6. Those left out can also seek inclusion through continuous updation. 4. ECINET IS NOT BEING LEFT UNCHECKED. A committee headed by a senior DEC, with an independent IIT/IIIT expert, will review whether the system complies with electoral law. 5. THE DISPUTED IT ORDERS WERE NOT IMPLEMENTED. The ECI says the DEC's oversight of the IT division was never withdrawn. 6. THE PROCESS REMAINS OPEN. Help desks, special camps, house visits and online hearings are being provided, while voters left out can seek inclusion. THE BIG QUESTION: IS THE “VOTE CHORI” ALLEGATION WITHOUT BASIS? POINT 1: SIR order of June 24, 2025 for all States/UTs including Bihar, West Bengal and 30 others was approved UNANIMOUSLY. POINT 2: The Supreme Court upheld the SIR order on May 27, 2026. POINT 3: SIR schedules for 12 States/UTs and subsequently 19 States/UTs were also approved UNANIMOUSLY. POINT 4: The letter to Cabinet Secretary by Election Commissioners was NOT related to any policy matter. QUESTION: Q1. If the Commission’s major SIR decisions were unanimous, how does internal disagreement over specific procedures establish “vote chori” Q2. And given the information released here how can demands for the CEC’s impeachment be justified?
