Diesel climbed 160% since 2020. The median paycheck climbed 28.8%. That spread is what every working ranch is up against right now. Diesel ran 2.42 a gallon in 2020. Today it runs over 6. Gasoline went from 2.27 to 4.32. Coffee went from 4.50 a pound to over 9. Auto insurance is up 51%. Rational Ranchers stacked those increases against six years of income data this week. The gap between what things cost and what people earn is the whole story. Every one of those numbers hits my operation too. The only lever I have is shortening the distance between my pasture and your freezer. Your rancher, Jason Hanley | 208-714-0478
