Asmaa Emad, 33, is a pregnant mother of one who lives with her husband and their 1-year-and-2-month-old daughter, Maryam, in a tent in Gaza. Since the beginning of the genocide, the family has been displaced more than 15 times, losing their home and workplaces, which have been completely destroyed, while their former area is now occupied. Before the siege, Asmaa and her husband had stable lives and jobs, but they are now both unemployed and struggling with debts accumulated through displacement and the cost of basic necessities. Maryam needs milk, diapers, food, and medication, costing around $200 a month, but the family has difficulty affording these essentials. The nearby community kitchen rarely reaches their area, and the family must walk long distances to access food. Asmaaโs husband was also injured when a large piece of rubble crushed his foot, and although he needs surgery, the procedure has been repeatedly postponed, leaving him dependent on painkillers. With another child on the way, Asmaa and her husband are trying to care for Maryam while managing their debts and meeting their familyโs daily needs. Support would help them provide essential supplies for their daughter, cover medical needs, and ease some of the financial pressure they continue to face.
