Here for the symbolism hiding in plain sight.

I just learned that Manly P Hall was only 27 when he wrote The Secret Teachings of All Ages and I am shooketh.

this is a reminder for you my brother: life is indeed beautiful. it’s just subject to entropy, that’s all. that’s why it’s so hard. all the good things to be achieved and then maintained as good have to have energy poured into them. shedloads. that’s the law. and you’re being bogged down with drainers and energy-suckers from all angles—work, relationships, news, and most importantly, you. yes, even you are an obstruction to yourself. when will you allow passage for that beautiful energy in you that’s dying for the surface? I assure you, you have it. you have that energy. a terrifying abundance of it. a colossal Übermenschian greek-hero mass of it. it’s all an issue of “removal of blockades.” just don’t let anything get to you. not even yourself. life is indeed very beautiful.

Same. One thing that’s given me peace is remembering that I give love bc I have love to give, I don’t see it as a transaction. Once it’s given, it belong to that person so I give freely, pay attention to how people treat me, and trust that life has more than one way of returning what I put into it.
I have a big heart and it has hurt me badly

A pretty woman can walk into a room & inherit rivalries she never agreed to participate in. It’s wild how often that happens.
Also controversial take but: Pretty women do get treated like shit. Sorry but it’s true. Ugly women also get treated like shit. The best way to get treated like the least shit is to be mid in the face with a thin fit body with no outsstanding voluptuous features.

Creativity gets rid of anxiety. Anxiety narrows your thinking around “what could go wrong”, it’s storytelling, circling same thought, possible threats. But give it something to make and suddenly it has choices to make, details to notice, a next step to take. Creativity is asking you to generate possibilities and pulling your attention toward what’s in front of you. But anxiety can also make it harder to create. Usually the way out of the loop is to make something badly (an eye sore, appalling even) for 30 mins, or even less, just to get the creative juices flowing again.

The Romans believed a genius was a Spirit and they honored it, made offerings, and left room for its help. Centuries later, German Romantics helped turn genius into something a person was: the extraordinary mind became the source of the work. All the brilliance had to come from within them, and so did the pressure to produce it again. And this is all much bigger than just art inspiration. Einstein spent years with the questions that led him to relativity and Tesla described the solution to a problem appearing while he walked thru a park. The work prepared them to recognize what came. I want to be ready when ideas pop up for a visit. Give it time, take the lovely walk, stay in motion, keep something nearby to write on.
Ideas are lil entities with their own timing, I can’t tell them when to arrive but I can meet them at the pond.

The most magnetic person is a walking contradiction. Someone who forgives easily but simultaneously holds incredibly high standards for themselves and those around them. Shameless and goofy, yet deeply disciplined. This type of person will either inspire others to become more themselves or will trigger those who still deny their own desires.

nothing shuts up your inner critic faster than being creative badly on purpose. when you get ideas out that are messy, stupid, or wrong, the perfectionist monster that lives in your prefrontal cortex and sabotages your flow state gets small. then you can play

Focused attention, expressing feelings you haven’t put into words, & gaining a sense of control as you make choices. Even choosing the next color or sentence gives your mind somewhere to move! Creative work truly is sacred.
