WTF, Steve? Look up the definition of “humanitarian.” What an embarrassing and outrageous thing to say. You should go back to Ukraine and ask the families of the children Putin has kidnapped and murdered whether they agree your friend Putin is a “humanitarian.”
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

What is going on at Harpenden station? Weeks after Thameslink was nationalised (31 May), two of the four ticket machines at the main entrance have now been decommissioned causing long queues and people to miss trains. What is going @TLRailUK?

President Putin is a murderer. His soldiers use rape as a weapon. He has launched wars costing thousands of lives. His agents have stolen children and destroyed families. Russia today is what President Reagan correctly called it: the evil empire.

We are past the point of political disagreement. We are witnessing a catastrophic collision between unchecked narcissism and obvious neurological decay. It is the most dangerous intersection in American history: a man with the absolute power of the Presidency and the absolute cognitive failure of a person no longer tethered to reality. x.com/atrupar/status/2112623…

Baby Anhelina and her mom Inna were killed by Russia yesterday. Anhelina was just over a year old. Her mom, Inna Mariukhna, was a primary school teacher. They were in the park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, when a Russian drone attacked. Little Anhelina was killed in her stroller. Her mom died of her injuries in hospital. Another girl killed in the strike was just 11 years old. Six people lost their lives from that Russian strike. All of them had simply been spending time in the park. At least 15 more were injured, including seven kids. Deepest condolences...

BREAKING: BETRAYAL! Trump’s Russia sanctions waiver is so DANGEROUS that even the Murdoch media empire is turning against him. When the multi-tentacled right-wing propaganda machine that is the Murdoch family empire is calling you out for cozying up to the condemnable Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, you may have finally gone too far. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board just unloaded on Donald Trump for waiving tariffs and sanctions on Russia that were enacted in a law that passed the Senate 86-11. That law gave Trump 30 days to impose tariffs of up to 500 percent on Russian imports, plus duties of up to 100 percent on major buyers of Russian oil and gas, including China and India. More tariffs? Who could imagine that Trump would ever object to a law that gave him MORE tariff power? Trump, however, signed an executive order two days before the new law took effect, nullifying the punitive tariffs instead. The executive order also suspends sanctions on Russian officials, state bodies, banks, energy companies, and the ships Moscow uses to dodge restrictions. Trump’s only explanation for the move was that he believes that it’s in the “national interests” of the United States. We could think of a few more possible reasons, including keeping Putin happy enough to prevent him from releasing the rumored “kompromat” he has been compiling on the American president for decades, and the potential business deals for Russian natural resources that could enrich Trump and his family immensely. The Journal wasn’t buying Trump’s excuses either. “The opposite is true,” the editorial said. It accused Trump of sticking “a shiv in the back” of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s legacy, and said Trump is now “Mr. Putin’s best friend in the world, after perhaps China’s Xi Jinping.” Reality delivered its own verdict almost immediately. Russia launched one of its largest attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, hitting more than 15 power generation and transmission facilities, just days after Trump announced an “energy ceasefire.” The Journal says Ukraine honored the pause until it was clear Russia hadn’t, yet Trump kept blaming Kyiv. Afterward, Trump said he believed Putin was willing to make a peace deal while questioning whether Zelensky was. Zelensky said the decision “definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people.” Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who helped write the law, said Trump “stands on the side of a bloodthirsty thug & the enablers of Russia’s war machine.” The Journal argued that “Trump wants Ukraine to surrender on Mr. Putin’s terms.” Meanwhile, Trump has sharply cut military aid to Ukraine, and envoy Steve Witkoff has made at least two trips to Moscow in the past year. The Journal said Trump has been “courting Mr. Putin” but “to no avail.” The Journal’s editorial board issued a stark warning for Congress: after the Nov. 3 election, there needs to be “a bipartisan reckoning” over Trump’s “budding alliance with the Kremlin.” We say, why wait? When Fox News’s corporate cousins are demanding accountability, the question becomes how long Republicans in Congress can stay quiet and — even more crucially — can the Trump administration survive without the support of the media behemoth that led to its initial success at the polls. Please like and share to delight in the sight of Trump being abandoned by his media allies!

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary: "I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities. "We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down. "In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States." x.com/breeallegretti/status/…

Is Donald Trump a Russian asset? I only ask because, over the weekend, it all went rather beyond a joke. Writing on Truth Social, the president made the wicked allegation that the Ukrainian leader was prolonging the war for financial gain. “Zelensky doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him... he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did,” he ranted. This latest jibe at the Ukrainian president is the result of a shameful run of events. First, the White House undermined its own sanctions to secure a diesel deal with Russia in the apparent hope of reducing Trump’s losses at the mid-term elections (while greatly strengthening Vladimir Putin’s hand in Ukraine). Second, the president announced a fictitious “energy ceasefire”, after which the president pressured Zelensky into halting his attacks on Russian oil infrastructure by curbing intelligence sharing and murkily disrupting Elon Musk’s Starlink service. In the midst of all this, Trump signed an executive order delaying a bi-partisan sanctions package on Russia. Named after the late Senator Lindsey Graham, it targeted officials, banks, energy traders and oil apparatus. While suppressing it, the president cited the American national interest, which apparently is now best served by enabling the free world’s enemy to gain power. This was not a one-off period of indulgence of the Kremlin, produced to alleviate political pressure at home. That would be bad enough, but no: it is part of a very well-established pattern... The historic Limoges Town Hall in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-central France. A bunch of masked cowards burned down a 143-year-old civic landmark that survived two world wars. That’s not a protest. That’s moronic cultural vandalism. They torched the shared memory of a city, then scurried off into the night. Despicable.
