Every position is a promise. That's the idea I keep coming back to when people ask why I'm building Plether. When a perpetual exchange accepts your trade, it takes on a liability. And most venues honour that liability right up until it gets ugly. Insurance funds run dry, and they're a hidden cost anyway: liquidations fire earlier than they need to just to keep the fund topped up. Then ADL kicks in, and the traders who were most right get closed to stop them winning too much. I don't think that's a risk parameter => it’s a design failure. Plether has no ADL. Crypto degens can live with forced deleveraging. If you're hedging macro exposure, you can't. Payouts are bounded, so the protocol knows the worst case before it accepts your trade. Every risk-increasing trade gets checked against real pool assets first. Your position can be closed at any time, no exceptions. That's the core promise, and it's unique to Plether. The payment can be delayed, but it can never be confiscated. That's what I want to offer as a builder: if my venue accepts a liability, it honours it, whatever happens. A small look at where NØNOS is today 🩵 The current image under tests is 103 MB, self-attesting and boots all the way into the desktop. There are 57 signed capsules in the image and each one is verified before it is allowed a spawn. The proof system is running Poseidon over the 64-bit Goldilocks field with 32 rounds, 32 FRI queries and 16 bits of grinding. Means we improved attestation 👇 A couple of changes this week were less visible, but mattered more. The verifier’s subgroup evaluation went from an O(n²) Lagrange pass to O(n) barycentric evaluation, using one Montgomery batch inversion across the denominator vector. Same polynomial with much less work. We also cut the compositor worst-case present stall from 1000 ms to 100 ms = slow driver reply should now cost a late frame not freeze the desktop for a second. * attaching a few shots of the latest UI/UX work as well. It’s starting to look like we want which is an important transition for us. Next up: more hardware work, more hardening and the tutorials showing exactly how to boot NØNOS yourself in QEMU, VirtualBox and on real hardware.
