I posted tweets earlier that were misunderstood. I was attempting to point out that the depth of the lake could have caused the plane to hit rocks, creating an even more dangerous situation.
I did not mean to imply the depth made the landing less serious. It was the opposite.

We are all grateful to God that He was with Tom and guided the hand of his pilot to safety last night.
Thank you to the first responders to ensuring everyone made it out of this incident safely
While returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner tonight, the plane I was traveling in lost power as we approached the Wausau Downtown Airport. The pilot made an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau.
After landing, we called 911. As the plane began to submerge, we exited the aircraft and swam to a shallow area, where we waited until emergency responders reached us by boat.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the pilot, the Wausau Fire Department, and all of the first responders who came to our aid so quickly. They got us safely off the water and transported us to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where we received excellent care. Thankfully, both the pilot and I sustained only minor injuries.
God was watching over us tonight, and I am incredibly grateful to be here in the hospital with my wife, Chris, by my side. An experience like this reminds you just how precious life is.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.
On September 11, 2001, our nation was attacked, and nearly 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives. We remember those we lost, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the first responders who selflessly ran toward danger.
May we also never forget the unity that followed that day and what it means to stand together as Americans.

Today marks one year since Charlie was killed while exercising a freedom at the very heart of our country: the First Amendment right to speak openly, express our ideas, and engage in debate
Charlie understood the power of conversation and the importance of engaging with ideas, even when we disagree. As a young conservative leader, he dedicated himself to bringing young people into the political process and inspiring a new generation to get involved, speak up, and make their voices heard.
Let us honor Charlie’s memory by continuing to inspire young Americans to get involved, have educated conversations, and stand firmly for what they believe in.
God bless Charlie and his family, and may his legacy live on through each of us.
