#LetFreedomSing 'Love , Honour, and Respect Saturday'
By Brian Tamuka Kagoro
Happy blessed Saturday, family! Tamuka vibes 😎. The week has had its truckload of wahala, shida mingi, matata, inkinga...yoh!
Today we are not stepping out with stress — we are stepping out with assured life energy. Karibu, bienvenue, bem-vindo to you as the main character's day! Saturday doesn't ask for your hustle, job title, social position or mad rush . Saturday asks: "Kijana, unalala lini?" — my child, when do you sleep? Answer it honestly, O!
Across the continent the old wisdom agrees. In Accra Ga people say "Afe Nyonu"— life is sweet, taste it slowly. In Yoruba land dem say "Ara re ni ijoba re" — your body is your kingdom; govern it with rest. The Swahili coast reminds us how to do Saturday rest ,"Pole pole" — gently, gently, sana. Even your ancestors, may their data never finish, took one day off. Who are you, with your 2% battery and 247 unread emails, to out-work the ancestors? Wallahi, relax!
So before you leave the house, assemble the fit. Not the drip — the soul fit. 💎. I no mean to vex you , but if you drop dead from work stress ,by next week the vacancy will be advertised and your friends and colleagues will apply even as your family grieves. Business must go on O!
Throw on your "No Gree for Burnout" hoodie. Zikoko-certified, hustle-proof, drama-resistant. Let it repel every ungodly temptation of "quick meeting, just 5 minutes" and "you've seen my missed calls?". Abeg,No!
Lace up your "Zviribho, But Make It Fly" sneakers. Every step tells your troubles: "Not the main character, my brother. Supporting cast." Your plans, your vision, your peace — that is the premiere, and the premiere is sold out.
Rock your "Ubuntu 2.0: Plugged In, Not Drained" tee. Ubuntu is not free WiFi, people! Family, friendship, love — these are your people, not your battery pack. Love them, don't leak through them. Mon ami, community is not a group project deadline. It's a braai. Bring meat, bring self. A golf day , picnic , fishing trip , game drive , a church social or chai chat . Something that genuinely connects you to your Pips.
Slip on your "Sabalkheri — Good Morning to My Peace Only" socks. Say good morning to your own soul first!
Clip on your "Tswi-Aye! I Am Chilling" cufflinks — but today the fire is in the jollof, not in your chest.
Fasten your "C'est Le Weekend, Bébé"belt : even your problems must apply for leave and wait for HR to respond. Monday. Maybe.
And never, ever leave without your "Enyonyam Ara Ara" — Glory, It's Mine"pendant. Claim it, wear it, don't lend it to anyone's drama.
Spray the "Only Good Vibes, Alhamdulillah" cologne — gratitude is the fragrance that confuses your enemies' GPS. They can smell the blessing ,good vibes and joy,but they can't locate them. 🙌🏾
Wear your "Fulfilled Life, Hard Faith"* bangles. Because Saturday is the 'Sabbath' of rest and the 'Salah' of the soul — worship, renewal, 'ashe' ( the power to make things happen). Pray, reflect, breathe. Then eat. Twice. You've earned it.
'Dai', so here is the anthem: Saturday survived your whole week —Potholes in Harare , traffic in Lagos, loud hooting in Cairo, deadlines in Nairobi, inflation everywhere, fake friends with real audacity, and your own 3 a.m. overthinking committee. Honour it.
Sit tall.
Laugh loudly.
Glow responsibly.
Hydrate. Moisturize. Mind your business. 🧴✨
And tonight, when the sun clocks out with full pension benefits — queue the Jazz, the Blues, the R&B soul, the Afrobeat, the Amapiano, the Kizomba, the Ragga…
… and play them ALL on 'SILENT MODE'. 🎧🤫
Because the deepest freedom isn't loud, fam. It's the groove in your chest while the world sleeps — the angels and ancestors on backup vocals, your peace on lead.
So whatever you do today: Love, Honour, and Respect Saturday! Let your enemies and worries see you resting and start updating their LinkedIn.
Asante. Merci. Obrigado. Ese. Akpe. Modupe.Ndatenda🙏🏾😎🔥
