The Protestant Reformation redirected focus back to the Bible and away from Rome/East, but bc of its nature (“protest”), the movement rejected God’s commands to obey the gospel, and so one big “let’s let the Bible tell us what to believe” movement started a new “let’s do what feels good” movement.
Christians are in the church of Christ (Rom 16:16).
Obeying the gospel is a command that must be obeyed BEFORE forgiveness of sin is granted.
This requires baptism after hearing, belief, confess, & repentance.
And so while the strong roots of the Bible has brought in much liberty in the world, today’s religious deviancy cloaked as Christianity comes from the libertine spirit of “I don’t have to do anything”, which directly goes against Christ’s commands for salvation.
