I just want to cry reading this.
This moment I spent with a Proboscis Monkey is still the most cherished I’ve had.
It just beggars belief how many have died and lost their habitat with the Indonesian forest fires over the past month! 😭
Nowhere safe to flee:
A heart-wrenching report says so many proboscis monkeys were burned in the Kalimantan fires because they were caught between the flames and human firefighters—and they fear humans as much as fire.

Great news. Sustainable practices by groups of U.K. farmers are getting dramatic increases in previously declining wildlife. One achieved a 347% increase in corn buntings and a 183% rise in butterflies, both sharply decreasing nationally, in a decade.

Shrikes,incredible predators. At Dersingham Bog a GGS on top of a tree suddenly launched out in level flight to pursue a probable Goldcrest in canopy about 100 yards away. 15 seconds or so of manoeuvreing through the tight branches. A photographer continued to look t'other way !!

Did the Arc de Triomph racing weekend and my, what a triumph for the Paris transport system. Came out and joined a queue of 5-600 people for free shuttle buses to nearest Metro underground. Hot and steamy day. Needed to get shoes off. Then 20 coaches turn up. Fantastic well done

I was nearby when the news of the Barred Warbler in the gardens below the Garrison. Fortunately being tall I was able to look down into the gardens and after a short while I had good views. Being Friday I then walked to Longstones to have apple pie and cream.
