Waterford Libraries is delighted to introduce a new series of free Writing Workshops for 2026. The programme runs from mid-July to late October and gives participants an opportunity to attend courses in both Irish and English with experienced, well-established writers in their fields.
The courses are free of charge and open to people over 18 years resident in the city and county of Waterford. Places are limited so early application is advised.

The workshops are:
✍️ Fundamentals of Fiction with William Ryan: starts 14th July, 6pm - 8.30pm for four weeks on Tuesdays - Online.
✍️ How to Plan a Murder- a One-day Crime Novel Course with William Ryan: 1st August, 10am - 4.30pm - Online.
✍️ A Voyage Around Travel Writing- A one day masterclass with Madeleine Keane: 22nd August, 10am - 4.30pm at Central Library, Lady Lane.
✍️ Creative Non-Fiction and Arts Reportage with Peter Murphy: starts 5th September, 11am- 1p.m, four weeks on Saturdays, Central Library, Lady Lane
✍️ As I Recall – Writing workshop with Aingeala Flannery: starts 8th September, 6pm – 8pm on Tuesdays at Tramore Library.
✍️ Filíocht le Joanne McCarthy: (Poetry (in Irish) with Joanne McCarthy); 19ú Meán Fomhair, Lá amhain (One day), 10.00 r.n. - 4.30 i.n. Leabharlann Dhún Garbhán (Dungarvan Library).
✍️ Poetry for beginners with Conor O’Callaghan: starts 17th September, 6pm – 8pm for four weeks on Thursdays - Online.
✍️ Dilemma and Delusion: How to write a short story with Niamh Mulvey: starts 3rd October 2.30pm – 4.30pm for four weeks on Saturdays, Central Library, Lady Lane.
