The Protesters Are Right About French Austerity Yes, France’s government spends a lot as a percentage of GDP, but you have to remember that it’s GDP is very small. In raw dollars, the US spends more than France even though it spends less as a percentage of GDP. I’m not sure why France’s GDP is so small but I suspect it is due to the work of capitalist saboteurs.

France has the exact government that Ro advocates America to have and yet they are embroiled in riots of discontent. There is no amount of free that will make them happy. In fact, as they get closer to more free stuff they get angrier. A lesson.
From the high schools of France to the streets of Madrid to the universities of Tirana, young people are telling their governments the same thing: in an age of massive wealth inequality, they want a future they can believe in. In France, students and teachers are asking for safe schools, enough teachers and smaller classes. In Spain, for affordable rent and housing. In Albania, for good jobs and an end to corruption. @JDVance says this is what happens when a nation lets in too many immigrants from the global south. He is not just morally wrong, but misreading the moment. The is what happens when nations let wealth and power accumulate in the hands of a few. This is what happens when young people lose hope in their future. In America, let us listen to our young. We need an economic and political transformation. America's Next New Deal.

"I don't want flying cars. I want raw nature and real human connection." Brother… YOU are CURRENTLY SELLING $50 worth of protein bars that were not foraged, not hunted, and not hand-pressed by a village elder at dawn but manufactured in a FACILITY on a production line powered by the electrical grid, sealed in plastic made from petroleum pumped out of the earth by giant drills, boxed, labeled, barcoded, and scanned into an inventory system running on servers cooled by industrial AC units humming 24/7, then loaded onto a DIESEL TRUCK that hauls them down an interstate bulldozed straight through the exact wilderness you want to get lost in (you will not get lost, there is a Buc-ee's), dumped into a sorting hub full of conveyor belts and robotic arms and lasers, thrown onto ANOTHER truck, handed to a mail carrier idling in a van in a cul-de-sac, and dropped on a porch in a cardboard box that gets ripped open in four seconds and tossed in the recycling, all so someone can eat a bar they bought on a phone with a credit card processed in 0.3 seconds by a bank mainframe and then YOU logged on to tell the rest of us technology doesn't make anyone happy, when it's clearly making YOU very happy, and the second someone figures out drone delivery you'll be first in line with your logo on the propellers, so no, you're not a troglodyte, because troglodytes never offered free shipping on orders over $75.
I don't want flying cars. I want rivers and ocean I can swim in with friends. I want food that isn't full of toxic chemicals and clean soil to grow it in. I want raw nature and wilderness and places on the earth I can get lost without seeing another human. I want air that isn't "geoengineered" and polluted. Science is cool. Technological advancement is cool, but I don't think this makes us happier as humans. Real human connection and clean, natural food lead to happiness. This I know. Flying cars? I'm not sure. Maybe I am a troglodyte...

I never want to hear Europe is more civilized than the US ever again in my life.
I felt like we were living in the decay of a far more intelligent civilization than my own when Iived in Philadelphia, myself included. Europe is on a whole different level.

I love the private sector for making great things for people but there should be no world where once that tech is the government’s that the private sector can continue to control any aspect of it privately thereafter.
EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph. The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries. ‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement. But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe. The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown. ‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

That was the whole point of kicking Anthropic out of government if they weren’t willing to comply and it should be the same for SpaceX too. This isn’t hard.

"Did you laugh at what he said?" I gotta believe it sounded better in the original Russian.
Shane Gillis’s joke gym shorts struck such a nerve with the feminist journalist class that now they’re pressing other SNL cast members to condemn it. Watch this interviewer push Michael Che to take a stand over a joke. Insane!

This guy, who apparently works for The Bulwark, wrote an article saying that he was baffled about why Shane Gillis was allowed to host SNL, since previous outings were ranked dead last for each season. I found this surprising because I’d assumed that a comic as popular as Gillis would get high ratings. I clicked through and it turns out that the rankings he was talking about weren’t ratings, but HIS personal rankings of each season. So his entire rationale for why it’s bad when Gillis hosts the show is that he doesn’t like it when Gillis hosts the show.

Hot take: Turning this woman, running for a low-level office in Indiana, into an internet punching bag is unseemly and gross

Haha wasn’t this monologue like weeks ago? How long are we going to have to talk about whether it’s ok to joke about women dressing like whores at the gym? This is America! People can dress like whores wherever they want and comedians can make jokes about it.
Maybe it’s a good thing Shane Gillis was fired by Saturday Night Live before he even got started. hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-…

Am I crazy or does Grok think a legitimate picture of Rep Presley is actually a gender swap AI of Talarico?!
Glad it hit. Once you line up the eyes, nose and jaw it is hard to unsee the Talarico swap. AI memes like this one travel far.
