Any other chess players get this? My brain often frames all of life’s problems into chess positions when I dream. A minority attack building on the Queenside representing a distraction from what I want to accomplish. King safety representing what I hold most dear. An en pris piece representing not spending enough time with my family. Pawn structure representing the landscape that has resulted from all of my recent decisions. Lack of development representing something holding my career back. Trying to find a clever knight move that coordinates my pieces and solves multiple problems at once. Or maybe a quiet prophylactic move that will pay dividends later representing starting an exercise habit. Occasionally, I have actually found a brilliant move by the morning that really has improved my life. The positions are not always legal, but it is clear that my brain processes problems through chess. A drive for whole board vision that centers me. 🤔 Maybe I play too much chess…

Communities don’t decide to make someone’s gold useless just because they die or don’t protect it properly. If Satoshi is dead or doesn’t want to upgrade his wallets, then he doesn’t have to. Let him decide his own security choices, just like the rest of us. If his Bitcoin gets taken by a quantum computer, then the new owner will certainly use the new quantum resistant technology. The market will freak out, network security will improve, and Bitcoin will endure like so many times before.

Worrying about quantum computers killing Bitcoin is exactly the same thing as worrying about someone building a teleportation device that will allow them to teleport into your safe and take your gold. There are some physics concepts that might make it possible one day… But realization will require fundamental discoveries that have not happened yet. Neither cryptographically relevant quantum computers nor teleportation machines can happen by just scaling existing technology. Both are more than an “engineering problem.”

My investment thesis has always been $1M+ Bitcoin in the 2030s and I think there are several catalysts coming in the next few years that support that prediction…but I could certainly be wrong. Philosophically, it is a technology of incorruptible freedom and truth. One of the greatest inventions of all time IMO. So I buy every day and don’t sweat the crashes.
