Sometimes it takes the strength of adulthood to complete a fascinating childhood goal.

I was involuntarily shifting side-to-side in my chair watching this.

Don't lie: we all were bending our knees and tightening our grip right along with him!

We used to flip over the top with swings that had chains on them in the late 70’s

I remember trying to do this on the big swings on the school playground in grade 2. We called it “going over.” Everyone who did it became a legend. We should be dead. But we survived childhood.

Was I the only one lifting my upper body every time he got to the top, just to see if I could help him get over?

The chains… you just had to jump at some point! Also don’t forget that one leg of the swing set seemed to always be lifting out of the ground!

The kid in me is cheering. And I was tightening my core and “swinging” while watching it to help him get over. I did have an “oh shit” moment when it kept going a few times. My logic did not think that far ahead as a kid and that part would have freaked me out thinking I’d never stop and might need to let go and jump. 😂🤷‍♀️

At the park our swings had really long chains on the swings and we could do this. We would get the chains wrapped around the top bar until we had to jump like 5ft down to get out. I forgot about that until I saw this. 😂😜

I was living vicariously through him. I had the motions like I was on the swing myself remembering how many times I tried to do that but the swing set leg would start pulling out of the ground or I would chicken out! Lmfao

Speaking as a former playground monitor at an elementary school I was always thankful for chainlink swings.

Saw this before. If I would have had poles on my swing I would have done it too...so would many other "kids"...not grown adults. But we had chains, and that made it pretty much impossible...and fricking dangerous as heck.

Yeah but this swing doesn't have chains which just fold up when you go a certain height and never stay taut and you slam back down with your entire weight. This swing has long poles which you can keep the momentum going without crumbling/folding with chains , and makes it possible because the poles stay taut. Plus it's bigger as in more height than normal which helps a lot with leverage.
