Jim Rogers, co-founder of the Quantum Fund with George Soros, the fund that returned roughly 4,200% in a decade while the S&P 500 returned about 47%. Decades of being right about commodities before anyone else was paying attention.
His conviction is simple, almost old-fashioned: "Everybody should have gold. Everybody should have silver."
Not just as a trade. As insurance that outlives every currency and every government that's ever tried to replace it.
"Whether we like it or not, gold and silver have always been a store of value," he says. He even reaches back thousands of years to make the point, gold and silver
mattered before modern markets existed, and he doesn't expect that to change now.
But the real weight of the clip isn't the metals themselves. It's why he's stacking them right now.
Rogers thinks the financial system is being propped up by one move on repeat: "Central banks know how to print money. It's easy to print money."
Every time there's a problem, the solution is more currency in circulation. Markets go up. People feel richer.
Nobody asks what's underneath it.
That's exactly what worries him.
"It's happened before in History. It usually leads to serious problems. It will again."
Gold and silver, in his framework, aren't a bet on a crash.
They're what's left standing after one.
"In the meantime, the printing money and everybody's happy," he says.
"But look out the window because there are problems coming."
Because if the printing keeps everyone happy for now, what happens when it stops working?
