There's something surreal about a satellite image like this.
Mostly sunny skies over Hawaii don't adequately capture the dangerous waves, gusty winds, and ongoing flooding happening on the ground.
Yet, the sprawling major hurricane centered 300 miles off the the coast of the Big Island is a vivid reminder of Mother Nature's power.
Thankful that Hawaii will be spared from the worst of Nolo's impacts.

Super Typhoon Surigae is currently located about halfway between Okinawa island and the Diato islands.
The core of Surigae is expected to stay southeast of Japan as it moves northeast over the next few days. The current forecast brings it about 200 miles off the coast of Tokyo.
Kitadaito Airport is currently gusting to 59 mph, which is quite impressive given that its 75 miles away from the eyewall!
