The new Tesla Roadster produces more thrust than an F-16 fighter jet at military power Roadster Thrust augment: >80 kN (~18,000 lbf) F-16 with F100-PW-229: ~79.2 kN (~17,800 lbf) without afterburner Tesla packed enough cold-gas thrust into a car that exceeds the non-afterburning thrust of an F-16 engine With afterburner, the F-16 exceeds at ~130 kN But the fact this comparison even exists is insane Tesla just pushed automotive engineering deep into aerospace territory

NASA should be suitably impressed because SpaceX just demonstrated mastery of the propulsion skills necessary for moon and mars landings.

Tesla sells the Rocket version as flying AND accelerating. But the flying prototype has the rear tank feeding down thrusters, and its rear bar is empty. The rear acceleration thrusters in the promo shot must be mock-ups (see pics). The accelerating car can't fly and vice versa The Rocket version is still a theory only.

Why dont I see anything about this in the mainstream media? It’s as if this historic event completely passed them by Weird

For all of 5 seconds before you have to take it for a refill.

There's something brilliant about a road car's spec sheet needing a fighter jet as the comparison. The insurance quote is going to be interesting.

That’s an incredible design
Tesla’s design language just went hypersonic. From the elegant curves of S3XY to the brutal angularity of Cybertruck, Cybercab, and Optimus — the Roadster is the next leap. Inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird’s raw speed and the F-35’s stealth aggression, it’s not just a car. It’s a fighter jet that decided the sky was optional.

easy on your self! Tesla is based cold gas thrusters! it is not the same the F16 producing about 79.2 kN (17,800 lbf) of dry thrust and soaring up to around 130 kN with the afterburner engaged. Sleep tight

Doesnt max thrust only last about 1.5 to 2 seconds before you have to refill the big tanks?

What should you do if you are speeding in the air? Will the satellite camera trigger an alarm?🤣

What's the dB level inside the Roadster? What does it sound like from the driver's seat?

Yeah but impulse (dt) is the determining factor that should be discussed for the comparison to be meaningful

The only thing that packs more thrust is Tesla sycophants thrusting Elon’s balls into their mouths.

Yes 8 tonnes of thrust. That gives it a MUCH higher thrust to weight ratio than a fighter jet, which tends to be around 1:1. Amazing @elonmusk

It blows my little pea brain how small but beautiful that thruster is for the Roadster. The design is way out of the box thinking for sure. How you got all that power in such a small package 🤯

Takes 6 hours to repressurize the tank. Getting the tech in place to drop that time to just 30 minutes. The car charges to 85% in 10 minutes. The tech isn’t “vaporware” it’s today at This point with exception to the jet propulsion.

So, military airfields will become shorter, tires need to become more durable and aircraft carriers might need neither steam nor electric catapult And compressed air will accelerate construction work probably

Which shows that it’s an inefficient way to lift things. Freaking F-16 is 9 times heavier than the Tesla and can stay airborne.

Can you identify the amount of force required you move the roaster forward while suctioned to a vertical wall?

That’s absolutely amazing but what am I doing it in my practical life? I’m not saying don’t make this shit keep happening I’m saying bring it to me lol. I want you to make my five minute commute back-and-forth to work into a two minute commute. 🤣

For how long does it produce the thrust until it’s giant compressed tank is empty? 2 seconds? 3 seconds?

For 1.5 seconds, and the tank is so large that it can't carry any people or cargo. Utterly useless RC toy car.

Difference is that the Tesla can only do this for a few seconds maybe, jet can do it for hours, also you would only need like 20kN to lift a 4000 pound car. So I dunno where your getting that 80kN figure from. Highly inaccure.
